Black Billed Gull
Do you know what the rarest Gull in the world is? Well it's the Tarapuka ( or black billed gull,) which is extremely endangered. There is no doubt that this amazing creature can be saved, and I will inform you how we can help. This includes stopping predators and weed encroachment.
Firstly, I will share the predators and how we can stop. This is no surprise but humans are predators because their vehicles dive though the nest and we can stop this by putting up signs. Some other predators are rats, cats, ferrets, stouts and hedgehogs we can stop by laying traps down.
My last point is, how weed encroachment effects the birds. Weed encroachment on river-beds has removed suitable breading on some rivers. We can stop but using weed cutter instead of herbicides.
To conclude I would like to say get involved and help out. I have shared the threats such as predators and weed encroachment. GET INVOLD NEW ZEALAND AMS HELP OUT!
